Prayagraj: Allahabad University has released its academic calendar for the 2026-27 session, outlining the schedule for admissions, classes, examinations and vacations for undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and annual courses.The calendar was prepared keeping in view the admission schedule for newly enrolled students.According to the calendar, classes for the third, fifth, seventh and ninth semesters of UG and PG programmes will commence on July 13. Classes for the first semester of postgraduate programmes will begin on July 24, while first-semester undergraduate students will start their session on Aug 14.The varsity has scheduled odd semester end-semester examinations to begin on Nov 25. The first phase will cover theory examinations for the third, fifth, seventh and ninth semesters. Practical examinations, Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA), viva-voce and presentations for first-semester students will also be conducted as per the prescribed schedule. Examinations for various programmes will continue until Dec 22, while evaluation of answer scripts is targeted for completion by Dec 31.The winter vacation will be from Dec 25, 2026, to Jan 14, 2027. Even semester classes will commence on Jan 18, 2027. End-semester examinations for even semesters will be held during April and May 2027, with evaluation scheduled to conclude by May 31. The summer vacation will begin on June 1, 2027.The calendar also includes the schedule for courses running under the annual system. Classes for annual programmes, including Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA), will begin on July 13. Practical examinations will start on March 1, next year, followed by theory examinations from April 1. Evaluation of answer books is expected to be completed by May 20.Under the National Education Policy (NEP), around 30% of the marks in UG, PG and professional programmes will be allotted through Continuous Internal Assessment, while the remaining 70% will be based on end-semester examinations. The university has directed departments to complete internal assessment for the odd semester by Dec 10 and for the even semester by April 30, 2027.
