Prayagraj: The directorate of higher education has forwarded the requisition for recruitment to 2,107 vacant assistant professor posts in 330 govt aided colleges across the state to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC).The vacancies were uploaded on the commission’s e-requisition portal on Friday, paving the way for the issuance of a recruitment advertisement after scrutiny of the details.Higher education director, BL Sharma, said the commission will now verify the subject-wise and category-wise vacancy details before notifying the recruitment process.Earlier, the directorate already sent the requisition for recruitment to 111 vacant principal posts in aided colleges. The move comes as the commission intensifies efforts to clear the backlog of teaching recruitments inherited from the erstwhile Higher Education Service Commission and the UP Secondary Education Service Selection Board. The commission is aiming to complete all pending recruitment processes by mid-Aug before initiating fresh recruitment drives.During the verification of vacancies submitted by aided colleges, the Directorate of Higher Education found that several institutions had not reported all their vacant teaching posts. The vacancies were subsequently re-examined through subject-wise and category-wise matching, and colleges were instructed to submit revised details. As a result, the number of reported vacancies increased significantly before the final requisition was forwarded to the commission.Meanwhile, the Directorate of Secondary Education has also received details of over 23,800 vacant teaching posts in aided secondary schools. Approval has been sought from the Director of Secondary Education to upload the online requisition for these vacancies to the commission’s portal.
