Prayagraj: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate ‘Prerna Park’, a memorial park on the banks of the Yamuna near the Boat Club, on Monday, marking another addition to the city’s riverfront infrastructure following the Maha Kumbh.The park, developed at a cost of Rs 1 crore, features bronze statues of three prominent national figures—Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and former Vishwa Hindu Parishad international president Ashok Singhal.During his visit, the chief minister will also flag off the ‘Ekta Nauka Race’ (Unity Boat Race) and review over 1,553 development projects worth more than Rs 2,500 crore in the Prayagraj zone.The banks of the Yamuna are set to become a source of inspiration for youth and tourists, celebrating icons associated with nationalism and nation-building. The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has developed the Prerna Park near Kalighat on the Yamuna riverfront.Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani said the park was constructed at Rs 1 crore.“The park was built to convey the values and ideals of these three great personalities—Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Ashok Singhal—who embodied service to the nation, cultural nationalism, social harmony and public welfare, to future generations,” he said.The site will serve not only as a place to pay tribute but also as a centre to inspire the youth and people from all sections of society towards nation-building. Landscaping, lighting, pathways, seating arrangements, beautification and cleanliness measures have also been undertaken around the statues.The Yamuna will also host the Unity Boat Race, being organised in memory of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, whose ideals of cultural nationalism and a strong, united India continue to be remembered. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off the race, in which more than two dozen boats are expected to participate.Following the event, the chief minister will visit the Prayagraj Mela Authority auditorium at Parade Ground to review 1,553 ongoing and completed projects worth over Rs 2,500 crore being executed by the Public Works Department and other departments across the Prayagraj zone.
