Gurgaon: A 21-year-old law student was injured after an overloaded dumper, allegedly speeding on the wrong side of the road, crashed into his SUV near Mount Carmel School in Sector 114 on Friday.Krish Goenka, a resident of Dwarka, was driving his Ford EcoSport from Bajghera towards his father’s office in the city around 10.30am when the truck rammed into the right side of his vehicle.Goenka alleged that the dumper was being driven at a speed of around 70 km per hour and in a rash and negligent manner. “I was driving at 40-50 km per hour when a dumper truck hit my car,” he told TOI. “The impact has caused extensive damage to my car and endangered my life .“He claimed in his complaint that the dumper lacked rear taillights and displayed a registration number plate that was not clear and readable. He also alleged that it was seemingly being driven under the influence of intoxicants.After the collision, Goenka said he attempted to stop the driver, but the driver fled the scene, leaving the truck behind.Goenka’s father took him to a hospital in Dwarka Sector-12, New Delhi, where his medico-legal case examination was conducted. He wrote in his complaint that the impact of the accident led to chest pain, breathing difficulty and other physical injuries.Police said that an emergency response vehicle informed Bajghera police station about the crash. Head constable Ankit and his team arranged a crane to remove the damaged EcoSport. It was shifted to the Bajghera police station premises and kept in custody. The owner of the truck had allegedly taken away the truck from the spot.A case has been registered under BNS sections 125(a) (rash or negligent acts that endanger human life or personal safety), 281 (rash driving) and 324(4) (mischief) and Section 184 (dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act against the dumper driver. Police said that efforts were underway to trace the driver and the truck.
