Kanpur: A 48-year-old man died after a cobra bit him while he was trying to trap it in a home in Farrukhabad.He was taken to Nawabganj Community Health Centre where doctors administered five anti-venom doses. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to Lohia Hospital in Farrukhabad, where doctors declared him dead.The man, Khairati Nath (48), a resident of Nathpura village in Bewar police station area of Mainpuri district, came to Tapua village in Aliganj tehsil area of Etah district with two companions, Dinesh and Dharmendra, on Monday. They used to beg and catch snakes.On Friday morning, Khairati went to a village in Nawabganj police station area to catch a snake in a house. Khairati’s cousins Pawan and Dhanpal said that while he was catching the snake, it bit Khairati on both hands. However, he succeeded in trapping it in a sack.On being informed, his cousin Dhanpal arrived at the spot and took Khairati to the CHC in Nawabganj with the help of an ambulance.Doctors administered five anti-venom doses but his condition kept worsening. He was then rushed to the emergency ward of Lohia Hospital in Farrukhabad where doctors declared him dead.Khairati Nath is survived by his five children, Anjali, Pooja, Chanda, Rohit and Mohit. His elder daughter Anjali’s wedding was scheduled after 1.5 months and preparations were underway at home. Khairati’s wife Bitola Devi died earlier.
