Times News NetworkKanpur: The Kanpur Bar Association (KBA) and The Lawyers Association will organise a state-level conference here on September 10 and 11 to discuss the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, directives of the Allahabad high court and the proposed amendments to the Advocates Act, 1961, by the Bar Council of India. The office-bearers of bar associations from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh would participate in the conference, Mishra said. The two bar associations had decided to challenge the Allahabad high court order in Writ No. 12231/2025 by filing a writ petition on Monday. The High Court had directed that advocates accused of criminal offences carrying punishment of more than seven years be tried in another district. “This order will not be accepted. Therefore, we are challenging it,” Mishra said.He also objected to the Supreme Court’s directive under which the Bar Council of India would obtain undertakings from district bar associations that advocates would neither go on strike nor abstain from judicial work.
