Times News NetworkKanpur: Ahead of the city observing Independence Day with patriotic fervour, a series of programmes will be organised under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign on August 12 and August 13. The events will include a Tiranga Yatra, Tiranga Mela and Tiranga Concert, besides honouring the families of martyrs and freedom fighters and showcasing patriotic cultural performances.According to DRDA project director Alok Kumar Singh, the celebrations will begin on Wednesday with a Tiranga Yatra from Sarsaiya Ghat to Green Park at 9 am. People’s representatives, officials and employees of various departments, students, youths, representatives of social organisations and members of the public will participate in the procession carrying the national flag.A four-day Tiranga Mela will also be organised at Lawn No. 1 of Motijheel from August 12 to August 15. The Mela will be inaugurated at 11 am on Wednesday. Based on the theme of the tricolour, the mela will feature a range of activities aimed at promoting patriotism, national unity and pride in the national flag.A Tiranga Concert will be held at Gate No. 1 (Phoolbagh Gate) of Nana Rao Park on August 13 at 3 pm. Families of martyrs and freedom fighters will be felicitated during the programme.
