Nagpur: Rain and festive traffic snarls in Mahal failed to deter hundreds of citizens from making their way to Gadkari Wada on Sunday, carrying a long list of problems and hoping for solutions. Citizens turned up in large numbers for union minister Nitin Gadkari’s Janata Darbar, seeking his intervention in issues ranging from civic woes to personal grievances.According to sources in the minister’s office, Gadkari had two pre-scheduled engagements on Sunday morning and was slated to attend the Janta Darbar after completing them. However, seeing citizens arriving despite the rain, he decided to meet them first.To ensure those who had travelled from different parts of Nagpur did not have to wait, Gadkari accepted their representations and issued letters addressing several concerns on the spot. He also directed officials to initiate action on issues that required intervention from various government departments.Officials from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Nagpur Improvement Trust, district collector’s office, health department, police administration, Setu office, MSEDCL, South Central Zone Cultural Centre, and CRC were present at the programme.Gadkari directed officials from the respective departments to understand the grievances raised by citizens and take appropriate action. The representations submitted at the Janata Darbar covered a range of issues, including roads, agriculture, education, and healthcare.While several citizens arrived with grievances, others used the opportunity to thank Gadkari for projects and work completed with his intervention. The outreach programme also saw representatives of various Ganesh mandals meeting the union minister to convey their greetings ahead of Ganeshotsav.Several mandal representatives also invited the minister to visit their respective pandals during Ganeshotsav.
