Nagpur: A 38-year-old man from Mahal was allegedly thrashed, stoned and stabbed to death after a drunken brawl by three criminals over a monetary dispute and use of abusive language early Sunday. One of the accused, Kunal Zade, allegedly sat on the body and shot a video from his mobile phone. The video is part of the evidence being examined, said police.The body of the victim, Manish Mohite, was found in a pool of blood at a tea stall opposite Kasar Bhavan in Itwari under Tehsil police station limits. All three accused, Zade, Vinay Paunikar and Nikhil Chavan, have been arrested, said police, adding that they are probing the role of one more person.Police sources said Zade has several cases, mostly of assault and other body offences, Paunikar has three cases, including two of assault, against him while Chavan too has a criminal record. Manish, who was into sand business in Tumsar, had two cases against him — one of gambling and another a hurt case.The accused and Manish were consuming liquor at a bar at Zenda Chowk in Mahal on Saturday night when they started hurling abuses at each other. Manish was the more aggressive of the lot, said police. Later, they again had a fight at the pan kiosk belonging to Paunikar. The accused thrashed Manish with a weapon and stones and left him to die at the tea stall while shooting the incident, said police.Police said Manish had injuries on the head, ear, jaw and behind the ear from blows with a weapon and stone.Tehsil police have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by Manish’s younger brother Roshan. As per the complaint, Manish had called Roshan to the bar where the victim and Nikhil Chavan were already having liquor. Roshan too joined them.Later, Zade and Paunikar too came there. Zade, Paunikar, Manish and Chavan left the bar but Roshan didn’t join them. Late at night, Roshan called Manish, who said he was at Tajnekar Murtikar’s shop in Chitar Oli. Roshan learnt about Manish’s murder on Sunday at 9am, the complaint mentioned.Police are scanning the CCTV footage of the bar and pan kiosk and the routes used by the victim and the accused. As per police sources, Manish had earlier thrashed Paunikar.
