Ahmedabad: The State Examination Board announced the results of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) examination. A total of 2,18,305 students registered for the exam, of whom 2,07,201 appeared. The NMMS scheme, implemented by the central govt, aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections studying in Class 8 and to reduce dropout rates at the secondary and higher secondary levels. The examination was conducted on Jan 3 at taluka centres across the state.

Nearly 1.29 lakh students failed to secure 40% marks. Around 78,304 students from 14,778 schools scored more than 40% (above 72 marks). Only 20 students from 19 schools managed to score above 90%.According to the data, 25,486 students from 8,535 schools scored above 50%, while 7,766 students from 3,604 schools secured more than 60%. Additionally, 2,137 students scored above 70%, and 379 students crossed 80% marks.Of all qualifying candidates, only 5,097 students will receive the scholarship. Eligible students must apply on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) within the stipulated time, and schools will verify applications. The scholarship amount will be directly transferred to students’ bank accounts by the ministry of education.
