Prayagraj: Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Prayagraj, has introduced a new BTech programme in Mathematics and Computing from the 2026-27 academic session, marking the first time the institute has offered an undergraduate course that combines advanced mathematics with emerging digital technologies.Designed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the programme seeks to equip students with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), data science, machine learning and modern computational techniques alongside a strong foundation in mathematics. A total of 30 seats have been earmarked for the inaugural batch.According to Prof Pramod Yadav, head of the mathematics department, said that no other technical institution in Uttar Pradesh currently offers a similar undergraduate programme, making it a unique opportunity for students interested in pursuing a mathematics-oriented engineering degree.“The programme has been designed to address future technological requirements and prepare students for global competition in emerging fields driven by artificial intelligence and data analytics,” said Prof Yadav.Officials said the curriculum has been structured to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure. Students will study mathematical analysis, programming, algorithms, data structures, statistical modelling, machine learning, artificial intelligence and computational methods as part of the course.The programme will also emphasise research projects, industry internships and hands-on training so that students are prepared for both higher studies and employment opportunities.
