Kanpur: The wife of a sub-inspector posted at a police station in the south zone of the Kanpur Commissionerate has accused him of dowry harassment, domestic violence and attempt to murder.The 26-year-old woman submitted a complaint to the Police Commissioner, alleging that after she objected to her 29-year-old husband’s association with a female acquaintance, he assaulted her and fractured her jaw at two places. The woman also shared a video on social media claiming that he also attempted to kill her by pushing her from a moving vehicle.The woman claimed she suffered a miscarriage due to the continuing harassment. She alleged that her husband demanded Rs 30 lakh as dowry and threatened to evict her from their home while discussing plans to marry another woman.She alleged that she faced harassment after their marriage and that when she raised concerns about his interactions with female friends, he resorted to violence. She said he first damaged her mobile phone to destroy evidence and later fractured her jaw.According to the Kanpur Nagar Police Commissionerate’s handle on X, “Cognisance of the matter has been taken. The police station concerned has been informed for necessary action.”
