Prayagraj: Reacting to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Prayagraj, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday said that it will have no impact on the youth, farmers, the poor or women, claiming that all four sections stand with the BJP.He also accused the opposition of trying to divide people and called upon party workers to strengthen the organisation ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.“Whether Rahul visits Prayagraj or anywhere else in the country, it will have no impact on the youth, farmers, the poor or women. All these four sections stand with the BJP,” Maurya said. He claimed that Rahul had visited the region, including Prayagraj, several times, yet the Congress failed to open its account (win a seat).Responding to the objectionable remarks allegedly made by Maulana Rashid about kanwariyas, he said statements made by “such despicable individuals” are not worth commenting on. He added that under the “double-engine” govt, work is progressing by following the path of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.Maurya interacted with party leaders and workers during his visit to Prayagraj on Friday and said that on Aug 14, observed as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’, the new generation must be made aware of the suffering the country endured during Partition. He said they must be sensitised so that future generations never have to witness such a tragedy.He also said the BJP should remain in power for the next 100 years and that it was beyond the opposition’s capability to oust the party from power.Maurya said the opposition attempts to divide people, whereas the BJP’s motto is ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India). He described the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as a torch of nationalism that the country’s enemies cannot extinguish. “Let us pledge to build a developed India, a developed Uttar Pradesh and a developed Prayagraj by 2047,” he said.Referring to Bihar MP Pappu Yadav’s skit on donation theft, Maurya alleged that it insulted Hindus and devotees of Lord Ram. He said that if Rahul is a genuine Hindu who wears the ‘janeu’ (sacred thread), he should not support Yadav.He also asserted that SP members did not allow discussions to take place in the Lok Sabha and the UP Legislative Assembly. He alleged that the SP has no connection with the Ram Mandir or Ram devotees and claimed that these were the same people who had ordered firing on Ram devotees.Referring to the vandalism of BJP leaders’ vehicles during student protests in Prayagraj, the deputy CM said anarchy in the name of agitation would not be tolerated. “Our students cannot be anarchists; it is goons who spread anarchy under their cover,” he said.
