Prayagraj: A two-day international conference on ‘Advances in Mechanical Engineering and Emerging Technology’ (ICAMEET 2026) kicked off at United College of Engineering and Research (UCER), Naini, Prayagraj, on Friday.Organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UCER, in collaboration with Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, the event aims to provide a global platform for researchers, academicians and industry experts to exchange innovative ideas and discuss the latest developments in mechanical engineering and emerging technologies.Speaking as chief guest, chief of operations and maintenance at Tata Power, Prakash S Sharma, said that the field of mechanical engineering has witnessed tremendous changes over the years. He said that today, India is rapidly moving towards diversified and sustainable energy sectors, where the role of mechanical engineers has become more crucial than ever. Guest of Honour Prof Deepak Kumar from IIT, Delhi, said that countries who took to manufacturing are the leaders of today while highlighting the role of mechanical engineering in industrial development.
