Coimbatore: Election authorities have allocated 8,343 ballot units, 5,200 control units, and 5,572 VVPAT machines for the 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district.According to an official source, a single ballot unit could accommodate up to 16 names, including NOTA option. If the number of candidates exceeds 15, an additional ballot unit is required to ensure that all candidates are listed. Based on the final list of candidates released on April 9, five constituencies – Mettupalayam, Coimbatore North, Thondamuthur, Coimbatore South, and Singanallur – in the district would use two ballot units at each polling station as the number of candidates exceeds 15. The remaining constituencies – Sulur, Kavundampalayam, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi and Valparai – would use a single ballot unit per polling station, as the number of candidates in these segments is below 15.
