Kanpur: A 35-year-old man was arrested on Thursday night for allegedly killing his 84-year-old father with a brick and an axe following a dispute over money in Para Ojhi village under Hamirpur’s Sadar Kotwali area.According to police, the accused, Ramzan Ali, allegedly attacked his father, Nawab Ali, causing serious injuries to his head and face on Wednesday night. He then left the victim on a cot and went to sleep.Family members said Ramzan had been ill and had sought money from his father for his treatment and other expenses.He had also sought a loan from his elder brother, Shamshuddin (38), and tension over money had been persisting in the family since then.Circle officer (Sadar) Yashpal Singh and ASP Arvind Kumar Verma inspected the crime scene and questioned family members. A field unit collected evidence, while a dog squad examined the surrounding area.Police sent the body for postmortem examination and registered an FIR based on a complaint by the family.
