Hyderabad: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday said the Congress could win 100 assembly seats if a mass leader like T Jagga Reddy was made president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.Speaking to reporters in the assembly lobbies, Venkat Reddy praised Jagga Reddy’s leadership qualities, describing him as a mass leader with a strong grassroots following. “Jagga Reddy is like former CLP leader late P Janardhan Reddy, always helping the needy. He is like another PJR,” he said. Interestingly, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday had advised party leaders, including ministers, to avoid creating controversies through informal interactions with the media. Following the remarks, Venkat Reddy’s team issued a clarification stating that the minister did not intend to undermine the leadership of TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud, under whom the party won the Jubilee Hills by-election as well as several panchayat and municipal polls. “Venkat Reddy attended the iftar hosted by Jagga Reddy in Sangareddy and was impressed by the following he commands among the people. The minister only wanted to praise Jagga Reddy,” a member of the minister’s team said.
