Hyderabad: A couple died in the Basant Nagar area of Ramagundam when their car crashed into a roadside culvert during the early hours of Tuesday.The deceased were identified as Edla Srinivas, 44, a construction businessman from Mancherial, and his wife, Edla Rajitha, 40, a housewife. On Monday, the couple went to Karimnagar to meet their daughter, Edla Rishitha, who was pursuing MBBS in Karimnagar town. The mishap occurred when they were returning to Mancherial after meeting Rishitha.According to the police, at around 3 am on Tuesday, when the car driven by Srinivas reached near the bus stop of Basanthnagar village on SH-1, it suddenly veered to the left and crashed into a roadside culvert. Both Srinivas and Rajitha sustained severe injuries. Alerted by passers-by, Basant Nagar police reached the spot and shifted them to govt hospital in Peddapalli, where they were declared brought dead.Basant Nagar SI N Sridhar said that Srinivas might have dozed off while driving. On the complaint of Rishitha, a case was registered under Section 106 (1) (causing death due to rash or negligent act) of the BNS. Bodies were handed over to the family after the autopsy on Tuesday evening.
