Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy fiercely challenged BJP leader Nitin Nabin, dismissing his claims of a future BJP government in the state.

HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy launched a sharp attack on BJP leader Nitin Nabin on Tuesday during the latter’s three-day visit to the state, asserting that the Congress would “crush” the BJP in the next Assembly elections.Nabin had previously expressed confidence that the BJP would win the 2028 Telangana Assembly polls. In response, Reddy stated that the tactics used by the BJP in West Bengal would not work in Telangana, news agency ANI reported.Taking a jibe at the BJP leader, Reddy remarked, “I don’t really know his name.” Addressing the Rythu Bharosa Programme in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said, “Recently, a guy came here, Nabin or whatever, I don’t really know his name.”“But he comes here and says the next government is theirs. You said the same thing about West Bengal. It took you 15 years (to form a government) in West Bengal. Over there, because it was Mamata Banerjee, your tricks might have worked. But here, all our guys are ready, and they will crush you,” the CM added.Earlier in the day, Nabin announced that the party would launch a statewide agitation against the Congress government in Telangana, alleging that it had failed to fulfill promises made to the people ahead of the Assembly elections.Addressing the Telangana BJP executive meeting at the Rock Convention Centre in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Nabin called on party leaders and workers to intensify their fight against the state government and take public issues to every village and town.He noted that the BJP would organize protests and outreach programs to mobilize public opinion against what it terms the government’s failures.“We are witnessing rapid growth of the BJP in Telangana. With the dedication of our cadre and the support of the people, we are confident of forming a BJP government in the state in the coming days,” Nabin said.He further urged party workers to work tirelessly toward making Telangana “Congress-mukt.”(With agency inputs)
