Shimla: The Shimla police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder case of Manisha Mittal, 41, administrator of Saraswati Paradise International Public School in Sanjauli’s Housing Board Colony, with the arrest of her brother Himank Mittal (33) and his business partner Govind (31) from Rohtak in Haryana.The school operator was shot dead by two gunmen on June 13 evening on the gate of her school. The investigation revealed that the deceased lady had been involved in an ongoing property dispute with her brother Himank and his business partner Govind. Earlier, the Shimla police had arrested both shooters, Ashish Ahlawat and Deepak, from Rohtak in Haryana, and recovered the pistols used in the murder from their possession. During the investigation, it was established that the accused had traveled from Haryana to Shimla in a white Swift car to execute the murder. The police identified the vehicle and traced the accused.As per ASP Shimla Mehar Panwar, the probe established that Govind had rented the Swift car used in the crime and provided it to the two shooters. It also came to light that Govind had transferred money to accused Deepak. Additionally, the location data of Govind, Deepak, and Ahlawat showed their presence in Shimla a few days before the murder. The investigation also revealed that a few days before the murder, Himank had transferred Rs 8.5 lakh to Govind’s bank account. Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, it was established that Himank was the mastermind behind the murder conspiracy. Acting in concert with Govind, he had engaged Deepak and Ahlawat to carry out the killing, claimed the Shimla police.It also came to fore during the probe that after the murder, in an attempt to evade arrest, Govind traveled abroad and switched off his mobile phone. Based on sustained efforts and technical investigation, the Shimla police arrested Govind from Rohtak on June 28 and he was produced before the court that remanded him to four days of police custody. During preliminary interrogation, Govind admitted that he had orchestrated the murder of Himank’s sister. The police then arrested Himank from Rohtak on June 29.
