Bokaro: Six tourists had a close shave after their boat capsized in deep waters of Khandoli dam in Giridih district on Monday. The boat reportedly lost balance midway through the ride and capsized.No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.However, all the tourists were wearing life jackets, which kept them afloat until help arrived. Boat operators nearby immediately rushed to the spot and pulled the tourists to safety.“It was the life jacket that saved us. Otherwise, we could have drowned. I do not know how to swim,” one of the rescued tourists said.Boating was suspended temporarily after the incident as officials reviewed safety arrangements at the dam. Boat operators were asked to ensure all tourists wear life jackets before boarding.“The incident underscored the importance of adhering to safety protocols during water-based recreational activities, especially at crowded tourist destinations,” an officer of Mufassil police station said. Khandoli dam, located in Bengabad block of the district, is a popular tourist attraction known for boating and other water sports.
