Jamshedpur: Two women were killed and three others were critically injured after lightning struck a paddy field in Pandra village in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Monday.The five women were weeding the field when the weather suddenly deteriorated. As rain and thunder swept through the area, lightning struck the field, leaving all five injured, police said.Villagers working in nearby fields rushed to their aid and took them to Patkum primary health centre.Doctors declared Sonamani Mahato, 41, and Mukta Mahato, 35, dead on arrival. “The three injured women — Bhanu Mahato, Sunita Mahato and Sarita Gope — are undergoing treatment,” Chandil SDPO Shiv Prakash Kumar said.The ages of the injured women could not be immediately ascertained, he added.
