Members of Jharkhand Officers, Teachers and Employees Federation pay tribute to Sudivya Kumar Sonu at Randhir Verma Chowk in Dhanbad

Dhanbad: The demise of Jharkhand minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu on Sunday has halted work on his plan to produce a biographical film on the life and struggles of JMM patriarch and ‘Dishom Guru’ Shibu Soren.As art and culture minister, Sudivya had initiated groundwork for the proposed film and contacted a research team from south India to ensure the script was based on facts and authentic accounts. He had also started meeting people who worked closely with Soren before and during the Jharkhand statehood movement to collect first-hand information.On Aug 4, Sonu visited Latatand village in Rajganj and met Shankar Kishore Mahato, a close associate of Soren and a founder member of JMM. During the meeting, he gathered details about the movement and the contributions of Binod Bihari Mahto, A K Roy and other prominent leaders. They also discussed the formation of Shivaji Samaj and Santhal Samaj.“He wanted to understand the nature and duration of the movement and the struggles faced by its participants,” Mahato said.JMM central committee member Jaggu Mahato said Sudivya believed a film would help youngsters understand Guruji’s struggle and inspire them to follow his path.
