Kanpur: The state government will distribute 200 e-tricycles, 20 in each assembly constituency of the district during 2026-2027 financial year, said Vinay Uttam, District Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Officer.He said that under the scheme, a subsidy of up to ₹65,000 is permissible for each e-tricycle. In determining eligibility for the scheme, it has been specified that individuals with disabilities—such as those affected by muscular dystrophy, stroke, cerebral palsy, hemophilia, or similar physical conditions–will be eligible if they possess normal vision and mental faculties, have a healthy upper body, and are capable of operating a motorized tricycle while seated, and have had their disability certified as 40 percent or more by the chief medical officer.To be eligible, the female student must be 16 years of age or older and a resident of Kanpur Nagar district. It is mandatory for the student to be enrolled in a school, college, or educational/training institute operating within the district. A certificate of enrollment issued by the institution concerned must be submitted for this purpose, he said.The female student or her family must not fall under the category of income taxpayers. An income certificate issued by the Tehsil office will be required for this purpose. An Aadhaar card, two photographs showing the disability, and a mobile number are also required for the application.Additionally, the applicant must certify that they have not received the benefit of an e-tricycle within the last five years from the Government of India, local bodies, MP or MLA funds, or other government or government-aided sources.
