Prayagraj: Zero Poverty Campaign seems to have come as a lifeline for 28,974 families in Prayagraj, making another step towards inclusive development. Chief development officer (Prayagraj) Harshika Singh the officials have been instructed to ensure that the 28,974 families identified in the district receive the benefits of all the govt schemes. Around 84% of the target has been achieved in linking identified families to livelihood groups. Besides, as many as 2,715 ‘Most Impoverished Families’ have got permanent homes, and training under the Skill Development Mission, and Self-Employment Opportunities.Necessary steps are being taken to extend the benefits of housing schemes—specifically the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the chief minister Awas Yojana—to 12,532 families deprived of such housing assistance in the district. Additionally, toilet facilities have been provided to 7,293 identified families in the district.The ‘Zero Poverty Campaign’—launched on Oct 2, 2024— aims to identify the poorest families within every Gram Panchayat (village council) and prioritise their inclusion in various govt schemesto improve their socio-economic status and foster self-reliance. Mission manager of the Livelihood Group in Prayagraj Sharad Kumar Singh explains that under the campaign, the district has set a target of covering 20,018 families under the Livelihood Mission, of which 84% families have now been covered under the initiative.
