Ludhiana: A youth who had stepped out to buy kulfi was attacked and injured by a group of youths at Disco Colony late on Wednesday night. The victim, Sahil Sharma, alleged that the attackers thrashed him with a pistol butt and baseball bats, leaving him with head injuries and an arm fracture. Sahil told the police that after purchasing kulfi and stepping out of the shop, the accused — Movish Bains and his associates — surrounded him. He said they first hit him on the head with a pistol butt and, as he began to lose consciousness, continued to assault him with baseball bats. Sahil sustained around 25 stitches on his head and suffered a fracture in his arm. He was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. His father, Bittu, said that on receiving information about the attack, he rushed to the spot along with his younger son Mohit. When they tried to rescue Sahil, the attackers allegedly assaulted them as well. Bittu said both he and Mohit received seven stitches each on their heads. He further alleged that the accused also vandalised their scooter. Bittu claimed that when he approached the police station, officials did not listen to his complaint and instead asked him to call the police control room. SHO of division number four police station, Gurjeet Singh, said that a case would be registered after the victim’s statement is formally recorded.
