Ludhiana: Eight students from Ludhiana’s Khalsa College for Women were honoured by the Panjab University for their outstanding performance in different disciplines of sports including judo, athletics, cycling, basketball. The students who were honoured during the ceremony include Muskan Rathi for judo, Hakikat Kaur Grewal for athletics, Jasmeek Kaur Sekhon for cycling, Nandini Saha basketball and Komalpreet Kaur, Nadar Kaur Dhillon, Chanda and Bhumika for basketball.The students also received cash prizes from the University, Muskan Rathi got rupees twenty eight thousand, Jasmeek Kaur Sekhon got forty one thousand, Hakikat Kaur got nine thousand rupees, basketball players got twenty one thousand each, also the coaches and manager including Saloni, Navjot and Ravinder got fifty two thousand rupees collectively. The college also secured overall trophies in basketball and track cycling events. The event organised by the directorate of sports PU, also honoured college principal Dr Kamaljit Grewal and HOD Mandeep Kaur. The college principal, Dr kamaljit grewal and managing committee congratulated all the athletes for their achievements and performance in the sports and also appreciated the efforts of the physical education department for their guidance, commitment and hard work in preparing the students for excellence in the field of sports.
