Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has generated good response from the city residents for the remaining 179 flats under Atal Apartment Scheme, for which the draw will tentatively be conducted on April 14. The officials have uploaded the final list of the applicants on the website of LIT for public information. However, from some of the applicants, the officials have demanded some of the pending documents. The Ludhiana Improvement Trust received around 1539 (973 for middle income group and 566 for high income group) applications for remaining flats (HIG—43 and MIG—136) under Atal Apartment Scheme. The applicants are now hopeful that work will get completed in time and they will get possession in time. The chairman of LIT, Tarsem Bhinder, shared, “We have received good response from the public because now people are seeing the construction of flats in Karnail Singh Nagar. Earlier, they had certain doubts about this scheme, whether this will become successful or not. Secondly, our flats are still affordable because if we see other flats on Pakhowal Road, rate is quite at higher side.” He said they will try to match the deadline and give possession by the end of November, but there can be some delays in final touch-up as labour shortage is going on and rainy season will also disturb the work pace.Notably, after organising the draws for 576 flats, the LIT started the project in Dec 2024 under the Atal Apartment Scheme. The official deadline for the project is estimated to be Oct 2026, but officials claimed that, at maximum, they will give possession of flats in Nov–Dec, as by then everything will be ready. However, this is the only project of LIT that is ongoing in the city at this time; therefore, officials are trying to complete it as soon as possible. The allottees also raised a hue and cry over the delay in the completion of the project in the past, and they were pacified by officials, who assured them of early possession of the flats after the work picked up pace.
