Kanpur: On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 (Sunday), the Commissionerate police organised a special programme in which women from various fields participated and shared their views on women empowerment, education, health, legal rights and social awareness.Deputy commissioner of police (Lines) Shiva Singh addressed the women, and additional deputy commissioner of police Archana Singh welcomed the guests.The women were informed about Mission Shakti, Women Helpline 1090 and Emergency Service 112, and a self-defence demonstration was also conducted. At the end of the programme, a scooty rally was taken out to spread the message of women empowerment.Shiva Singh said that the main objective of the event on this occasion is to honour and encourage the contribution of women in society. “Today, women are playing an important role in almost every field including education, health, justice, administration, and security, and are making their significant contribution to the development of society. This program was organized to honour this very contribution”, Singh said.The Commissionerate police said that it was continuously working for the safety, dignity and empowerment of women. “In this sequence, Mission Shakti Abhiyan 5.0 is currently being operated, through which women and girls are being made aware about their rights, safety measures and support services”, the commissionerate police said.
