Kanpur: Police in Auraiya district arrested a computer operator at a gas agency for alleged black-marketing of LPG cylinders and produced him before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody.Domestic cylinders were allegedly illegally stockpiled at his house in Jaitapur village under the Sadar Kotwali area. During a joint raid conducted on the orders of the district magistrate, the team found a cache of cylinders in a room at Shivam Kumar Dikshit’s house. The team recovered 28 Indane gas cylinders, including nine filled and 19 empty. Officials said the unsafe storage of LPG cylinders in a crowded area was a disaster waiting to happen.Shivam confessed to working as a salesman and computer operator at Shri Darshan Indane Gas Service, saying he did black marketing from home for extra profit.After the investigation revealed the involvement of agency owner Ajit Kumar Mishra, an FIR was registered against both under the Essential Commodities Act, and Shivam was arrested. He was produced in court on Friday and sent to Etawah jail. Police said they are working to arrest the agency owner.
