Times News NetworkKanpur: A 24-year-old young woman from the Sachendi police station area of the city registered a case on Sunday, accusing a man of rape, threatening to kill her, and blackmailing her. The victim had earlier submitted an application to senior police officials, demanding strict legal action against the accused and seeking justice.According to the complaint submitted by the victim, the man from the village exploited her extensively on the pretext of marriage and then backed out.Assistant commissioner of police (Panki) Amit Chaurasia, stated that a woman under the Sachendi police station area submitted a written complaint at the police station alleging that a man committed rape with her on the false pretext of marriage. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police immediately registered a case under the relevant sections and the accused has been taken into custody.The preliminary investigation has revealed the fact that the accused and the victim had been acquainted with each other for the past nearly two years. The investigation of the matter is ongoing. On the basis of whatever facts come to light in the investigation, further legal action will be taken, the police officer said.
