Times News NetworkKanpur: Police have arrested criminal Ajay Thakur, accused of attacking a priest in the city’s Rawatpur area. As many as 32 cases, including attempt to murder, rape, robbery, POCSO and the Goonda Act, are registered against him across several police stations in the city. He was continuously active on internet media.Ravikant Shukla alias Bhola Giri, the mahant of Triloki Dham Ashram in Keshavpuram, had complained to the police on April 29 that Ajay along with his associates had attacked him at the ashram. Police then registered a case under attempt to murder and other sections against seven people, including Ajay Thakur, Ishu Yadav, Ajay’s female friend and his mother, and arrested Ajay’s associate Ishu Yadav and sent him to jail, while Ajay Thakur’s Thar, bearing a BJP flag and four two-wheelers were seized. Ajay had absconded. Meanwhile, he had posted more than two dozen reels (videos).The police who were engaged in the search for Ajay, arrested him on Saturday.DCP (West) SZ Qasim Abidi said that Ajay has been detained and will be sent to jail.
