Hyderabad: The prestigious vintage John Morris Fire Engine, housed at the National Rail Museum, New Delhi, and maintained by the staff of Lallaguda Workshop, SCR, won two trophies at the 59th Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally 2026.The rally covered a distance of 90 km, from the Statesman Building to Greater Noida and back to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The fire engine, manufactured in 1914, was originally used by HEH Nizam State Railway in Hyderabad. The engine is now a prominent exhibit at the National Rail Museum.This year, the fire engine was honoured with the ‘Indian Oil Heritage Preservation Trophy’, celebrating the oldest vehicle participating in the rally. It also received the Automotive Trust British Heritage Preservation Trophy, recognising British-manufactured motor vehicles for impeccable maintenance and preservation of heritage in pristine condition. It is the only vehicle in the world fitted with the original Shrewsbury and Challenger solid tyres and still retains all the original fire-fighting equipment.
