Lucknow: A school van driver, Imtiyaz, was arrested by Lucknow Police after two seven -year-old girls accused him of inappropriate behaviour while travelling to and from school in the Madiaon area.Police registered an FIR under relevant sections related to outraging modesty and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso ) Act following a complaint lodged by the father of one of the girls. The accused, a resident of Allu Nagar Diguria in Madiaon, was subsequently taken into custody.According to police, the matter came to light when one of the girls, a student of a reputed school and resident of a posh locality, informed her family that the van driver had been subjecting her to inappropriate touch.

Family members said the child had appeared withdrawn and unusually quiet for several days. During a conversation with her parents on Thursday, she disclosed the incidents, prompting them to investigate further.The girl’s family then contacted the parents of another child who travelled in the same van. The second girl also reported similar behaviour by the driver. Following the disclosures, one of the victims’ fathers approached Madiaon police and filed a complaint.Investigating officer Rajdeep Chaudhary said preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused had been operating the school van for the past four years and had been transporting the two children for around six months. Police said no previous criminal record has surfaced against him so far.The accused has denied the allegations.
