Lucknow: A 24-year-old nurse died by suicide after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance in Gudamba area, with her family accusing her boyfriend of prolonged harassment and holding him responsible for driving her to take the extreme step.The deceased, a native of Bandagi village in Barabanki district, had been living in a rented accommodation in Paharpur, with her elder sister and brother-in-law while working as a nurse.According to her family, she had been in a relationship with the accused for nearly three years. Her brother alleged that after a dispute between the two, she stopped responding to his calls. He claimed that the man then began repeatedly contacting her colleagues and asking them to persuade her to resume communication with him.

Family members said the harassment continued over the past several months. They alleged that on Friday, the accused once again contacted her co-workers while she was on duty. A colleague reportedly questioned her over the issue and advised her to settle the matter outside the workplace, leaving her deeply upset and distressed.After completing her shift, the nurse returned home and spoke to her mother over the phone. During the conversation, she reportedly said she was planning to lodge an FIR against her boyfriend in Barabanki over the alleged harassment.Later that night, after dinner, she went to her room. A few hours later, her sister found her unconscious on the floor. Family members rushed her to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors declared her dead.Gudamba SHO Anjani Kumar said an FIR has been registered. The deceased is survived by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
