Kanpur: Two of the three suspects who shot at a 38-year-old karate black belt holder in the abdomen in Kanpur’s Civil Lines area on Sunday night were arrested after an encounter with police late on Monday. The third accused managed to flee.On a tip-off, police raided the suspects’ hideout on TAFCO Mill premises. The accused opened fire on the team, prompting retaliatory action in which one of the accused sustained a bullet injury to his right leg, police said.DCP Atul Kumar Srivastava said a search is ongoing for the third accused.The victim, Arvind Kumar, was shot by the armed men for resisting extortion for beer near the police commissioner’s residence. Kumar is said to be stable now.The incident had sparked panic in the area.The prime accused has several criminal cases registered against him at multiple police stations, police said.
