According to Hindu calendar, during this period, the sun’s rays fall directly upon the Earth, resulting in severe heat waves and extreme temperatures across many parts of the country, particularly in North and Central India.According to meteorologists and astrological predictions, the heat during the ‘Nautapa’ period of 2026 could break several previous records. In states, such as Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar, the mercury could range between 45°C and 48°C, and in some extremely hot pockets, it could even touch 50°C.Between 12 pm and 4 pm, the winds are expected to be extremely dry and scorching. Even during the nights, no significant relief from the humidity and heat is anticipated.According to S Sunil Pandey, weather expert of CSA University, people should avoid venturing outdoors during afternoon hours and refrain from direct exposure to sunlight between noon and 4 pm. He also urged residents to consume water, ORS and buttermilk regularly even if they do not feel thirsty. People have also been advised to wear light-coloured cotton clothes and keep their heads covered while stepping outdoors.
