KANPUR: Two men accused of killing a father and one of his sons and seriously injuring another son following a road rage incident were arrested by police in a pre-dawn encounter in Kanpur, police said. One of them was shot and admitted to hospital. One accused was caught immediately after the incident and handed over to police. The injured son was treated at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital.Police said that around 4:30 AM on Monday, they received information that the two accused were fleeing towards Hamirpur with an accomplice. Police set up a blockade in the Yashoda Nagar bypass area to stop them, but on seeing the police, the accused attempted to flee.Despite police orders to surrender, the accused started firing, police said. In retaliatory action, the accused Karan was shot in both legs, while his accomplice Utkarsh was caught after a chase. The encounter took place in the Yashoda Nagar bypass area.The incident began in front of the Vrindavan Guest House on the Yashoda Nagar bypass, where a minor collision occurred between a father and sons on a bike and another bike, leading to an argument that escalated into a fight.Witnesses reported that the accused first attacked with helmets, then with kicks and punches, and then launched an attack with bricks and knives. The father and his two sons were severely injured and fell to the ground.After receiving information, Naubasta police reached the spot and took the three injured to LLR Hospital. Doctors declared Shiv Narayan (60) and Shivam (25) dead, while Satyam (30) remained in critical condition.Family members said all three worked at Kanak Marble in Kidwai Nagar and were returning home after finishing work on Sunday night. Doctors said both who died had stab wounds on their chest, abdomen and face. The injured son had stab wounds on his back, arms and abdomen.Shiv Narayan’s wife, Sudha Trivedi, said that the killers should be punished in the same way her husband and sons were killed, only then will her heart find peace.Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said that the two fugitives were caught in an encounter. “Three accused have been arrested, one identified as Shiva was apprehended by the police immediately after the incident on Sunday night. Two others however managed to flee. However, of the remaining two, one of them was shot and admitted to the hospital, while the other is in police custody. Further legal proceedings are underway. We will ensure they receive the harshest punishment by applying serious charges so that no one dares to commit such an act in the future,” said Lal further.
