Kanpur: Body of a 15-year-old boy was found lying in a drain near a field with the drawstring of his lower wound tightly around his neck, in Kathetha village under thana area of Kanpur, on Saturday. Police took the body into custody and sent it for post mortem, said ACP Krishnakant Yadav.The boy was identified as Prateek alias Krishna, son of Kathetha resident Santosh Singh, a farmer, who lives with his wife Sarika and two daughters, Radha and Sona.Singh said Krishna was a Class 9 student and had not been going to school for a few days as his hand was broken. On Saturday afternoon, he left home saying he was going to drive cattle out of their field 500 metres away.When he did not return till late evening, the family searched. His bicycle was found locked near the field. A search was conducted in the surrounding area and his body was found in a drain.According to Singh, he removed the noose in a bid to save him, but it was too late. He said he had no enmity with anyone in the village and had no idea why or who could kill his son. TNN
