Times News NetworkKanpur: Panic spread in Industrial Area-2, situated within the Chakeri police station area of the city, following a sudden blaze at an incense stick factory on Sunday morning. The presence of flammable sawdust in the facility allowed the fire to spread swiftly, consuming a significant portion of the factory in mere moments.Upon receiving the alert, three fire tenders arrived at the scene and managed to control the fire after approximately one hour of efforts. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, although the inventory stored within the factory was completely destroyed.The fire department indicated that prompt action in controlling the blaze prevented it from extending to adjacent industrial establishments, thus averting a potential disaster. An inquiry into the fire’s origins has been launched.Fire officer Rahul Nandan said that the control room was informed of the fire in the Industrial Area-2 in Chakeri during the morning hours. In response, two fire tenders were dispatched from Jajmau Fire Station. Upon arrival, the team observed that the fire had already spread extensively. The flammable sawdust utilized in the incense stick production contributed to the continuous growth of the flames. Given the fire’s intensity, an additional fire tender was requested from Narwal Fire Station. The three fire units worked collaboratively, applying water for about an hour until the fire was fully contained.The officials said that due to the timely intervention, the fire did not affect the neighbouring factories. Dinesh Gupta, the factory owner, said that the extent of the damage caused by the fire has yet to be evaluated.Meanwhile, fire officer Rahul Nandan stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the fire’s causes. “If it is found that the factory owners violated fire safety regulations, appropriate legal measures will be taken against those responsible, in accordance with the law,” he added.
