Kanpur: Bajaria police on Saturday night arrested three youths in connection with a stone-pelting incident during a Muharram procession on Thursday night.According to police, a few youths from Chand Lassi Wali Gali allegedly pelted stones at a Muharram procession moving from Baba Sweet House towards Rahmani Market.They also chased and assaulted several individuals with sticks, triggering a stampede.Later, members of the opposing group retaliated with stone-pelting, spreading panic in the area.Local residents intervened and brought the situation under control, allowing the procession to continue.A video of the incident went viral on Saturday, following which police registered a case and apprehended three youths.DCP (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava said a case has been registered under charges of assault and rioting against three identified individuals and 10 unidentified persons based on a complaint filed by Phoolmati outpost in-charge Rohit Kumar Sharma.
