Gandhinagar: An electric bus service was launched on Sunday in state capital Gandhinagar under the PM eBus Seva scheme. A total of 100 electric buses have been allocated to Gandhinagar, the govt said in a release.The project is being implemented by Gandhinagar Greenline Transport Service Limited (GGTSL), a special purpose entity established by Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. In the first phase, 40 fully airconditioned electric buses were flagged off and introduced on regular routes.An official statement said that all buses were fitted with electronic ticketing machines (ETMs), enabling passengers to make cashless payments through QR codes, UPI and other digital payment modes. A depot and charging infrastructure was set up at Sargasan at a cost of Rs 17 crore, the statement added.The service will operate on 18 routes, connecting major locations in and around Gandhinagar, including Sargasan, Pathik Ashram, Secretariat, Gandhinagar Railway Station, Mahatma Mandir, GIFT City, Chiloda, Dahegam, Kadi, Kalol, Chandkheda, Dhamasan, Naradipur, Sonipur, Kotha, Adraj Moti, Tintoda, IIT Gandhinagar, Dabhoda and Mansa.
