Kanpur: An awareness campaign regarding the Pocso Act was conducted in various schools across the city on Monday. The drive, held under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority, Kanpur Nagar, aimed to sensitise students about their legal rights and safety.Judicial and police officials interacted directly with the students and informed them about the Pocso Act, child safety, concepts of ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’, cyber safety, self-defence, and emergency helplines.At Gyan Bharati Balika Inter College on Birhana Road, Additional District Judge Rakesh Tripathi informed the students about the key provisions of the Pocso Act, their legal rights, and available legal protections. He encouraged them to immediately report any instance of inappropriate behaviour or harassment to their parents, teachers, or concerned officials, rather than remaining silent out of fear or hesitation.At Govt Girls’ Inter College, Vijay Nagar, Additional District Judge Piyush Siddharth and Judicial Magistrate Prashant Verma educated the students about child rights and legal protections. Similar programmes were conducted at Onkareshwar Saraswati Vidya Niketan Jawahar Nagar.
