Thiruvananthapuram: The special investigation team (SIT) investigating the Sabarimala gold heist case Tuesday questioned former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president P S Prasanth and member A Ajikumar. The Kollam vigilance court granted their one-day custody to the SIT and ordered that the duo be produced in the court by evening. Following this, Prasanth and Ajikumar were taken to Police Club in Kollam. The duo have been in judicial remand since July 23.Seeking custody, the team argued that detailed interrogation of Prasanth was crucial to unravel the alleged conspiracy to conceal the 2019 Sabarimala gold heist. Investigators told the court that custodial questioning was necessary to establish the sequence of events and identify the role of those allegedly involved. In a submission before the high court, the probe team alleged that the principal accused, including Unnikrishnan Potti, orchestrated a fresh gold-plating exercise in 2025 with the support of the devaswom board to cover up the 2019 heist. According to the team, the board, headed by Prasanth, allegedly sent the gold plates from dwarapalaka sculptures at Sabarimala to Chennai-based Smart Creations for replating without informing the high court, which was monitoring matters related to the case.Prasanth, however, rejected the allegations, maintaining that he committed no wrongdoing and insisted that the case was politically motivated. He said the truth would eventually emerge and that innocent individuals should not be made to suffer.
