Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Fibre Optic Network (K-FON) has expanded its high-speed internet connectivity to medical colleges and a wide range of healthcare institutions across the state, strengthening the digital infrastructure supporting the public health system.As part of the initiative, K-FON provided internet connectivity to govt medical colleges in Kozhikode, Manjeri, Ernakulam, Idukki and Wayanad, besides T D Medical College, Alappuzha. The network has been extended to several major healthcare institutions, including Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Govt Dental College, National Institute of Speech and Hearing and a few other private hospitals.The connectivity drive also covers family health centres, primary health centres and community health centres, enhancing digital access across all levels of Kerala’s healthcare delivery system.K-FON managing director Sandip Kumar said robust digital infrastructure was critical to ensuring that the benefits of technology reach a larger section of the healthcare sector. He said expansion of high-speed connectivity would strengthen Kerala’s public health ecosystem and support the state’s efforts to deliver technology-enabled healthcare services more effectively.The initiative is intended to build a stronger digital foundation for healthcare delivery by enabling medical institutions to provide faster, more reliable and technology-driven services to patients across the state, said K-FON officials.
