Margao: South Goa collector Egna Cleetus has directed civic and health authorities to intensify surveillance, clear garbage blackspots regularly and undertake bioremediation of legacy waste dumps while reviewing implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and the 2026 amendment.She also ordered operationalisation of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), improved waste collection and awareness drives on source segregation. Officials reviewed 16 complaints of dumping and littering from South Goa, while none were reported from Kushavati district. Of 202 Bulk Waste Generators identified in South Goa and 16 in Kushavati, only 100 have been registered.
