Times News NetworkKanpur: Criminal Vikki Soni (42), who had been in district jail for the past five years on murder charges, fell ill on Tuesday evening and later died during treatment at Government Ursula hospital.Family members accused the jail administration of negligence, but jail superintendent Rakesh Pandey termed the family’s allegation wrong. He said the prisoner was admitted to Ursula Hospital after he suddenly complained of chest pain. “The cause of death will be clear from the post-mortem report.Vicky Soni (42), a resident of Naubasta Galla Mandi, died in district jail, where he had been lodged for the past five years, his family said.He was accused in the 2015 murder of a man named Rohit from the Panki police station area.Naubasta Station House Officer Bahadur Singh said eight serious cases were registered against Vicky.Vicky’s nephew Deepankar said he had gone to the jail to meet his uncle only on Tuesday, but was not allowed to go inside. Later, they came to know about his death through an advocate.
