Coimbatore: Postal voting for senior citizens of age 85 and above and persons with disabilities (PWD) commenced in Coimbatore district on Sunday. The three-day postal ballot voting will cover a total of 7,583 senior citizens and 1,692 persons with disabilities across the 10 assembly constituencies.Coimbatore district collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar flagged off the vehicles carrying the postal ballots from the corporation central zone office which is the designated office for Coimbatore south constituency. A total of 168 dedicated teams have been formed for this purpose.As many as 2,960 senior citizens and 683 PWDs were covered across all 10 constituencies on day one.In the Coimbatore south constituency, out of the 646 approved 12D form 186 senior citizens and 31 PWDs have been covered. In Valparai constituency 175 senior citizens and 87 PWDs, Pollachi constituency 348 senior citizens and 102 PWDs, in Mettupalayam 289 senior citizens and 105 PWDs, in Sulur 254 senior citizens and 84 PWDs, in Kavundamapalaym 533 senior citizens and 72 PWDs, in Coimbatore north 242 senior citizens and 27 PWDs, in Thondamuthur 337 senior citizens and 58 PWDs, in Singanallur 265 senior citizens and 50 PWDs and in Kinathukadavu 331 senior citizens and 69 PWDs were covered on day one.The three-day door-to-door postal ballot will conclude on April 14.
