Coimbatore: At least 2,506 candidates appeared for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examinations, which serve as a gateway to a career in the Indian Armed Forces, at six designated centres across the city on Sunday.According to the official data, the highest attendance was recorded at PSG College of Arts and Science on Avinashi Road, where 531 candidates appeared for the exams, followed by PSG College of Technology at Peelamedu (469), Corporation Higher Secondary School at Siddhapudur and Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School at RS Puram West (384 each), St Michael’s Higher Secondary School on Big Bazaar Street (373), and Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women (365). District authorities confirmed that the exams were conducted without any technical or logistical issues. To ensure transparency and smooth operations, supervisors were appointed at every centre, and necessary amenities, including tight security and drinking water facilities, were provided for the candidates. NDA and CDS exams are held twice a year to recruit officers for the Army, Navy and the Air Force.
