Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted awareness campaigns in schools and markets on Saturday to curb the use of single-use plastic and promote better waste management practices.During a programme at Government Middle School Mithapur, officials educated students on source segregation and the environmental impact of plastic waste. The PMC also directed the school to establish a reduce, reuse, recycle (RRR) centre on its premises to collect and redistribute items such as books, clothing and bags.In the Bankipur zone, officials inspected Machhua Toli vegetable market and asked shopkeepers to replace plastic bags with jute or cloth alternatives. Vendors were also directed to install twin bins at their stalls to ensure segregation of wet and dry waste at the source.The activities were carried out as part of a citywide initiative across six municipal zones aimed at increasing public participation in proper waste management and sanitation practices.
